Blowing in the wind

Posted on Monday 23 May 2005

My muse has left me
abandoned against the wall
of silence

where the wind lashes my face
and reminds me how
barren my mind is

how fickle is my muse
to be carried off on a whim
like that

without a thought for her dependant,
without a minutes grace
or reflection.

I stare at the wall.

It glares back.

Hi there, my name is K.D. Schaefer. I’m writing a book and would like very much to quote the following line this piece: “how fickle is my muse / to be carried off on a whim / like that / without a thought for her dependant, / without a minutes grace or reflection.” Yet, to quote it, I feel I must reference the author, and in order to do that, I need to know the author’s name. What is your name? Feel free to use initials for privacy’s sake, though if I were you and had written this piece, I’d be biting at the bit to own up to it.

    Best, K.D. Schaefer
