I watch you sleep, wondering
what you dream of
as your eyes dart beneath
your quivering lids.

Are your dreams the same
as mine my love?
Do they burn bright as a candle
on a darky stormy night?

Do they sometimes wake you
in a flurry of panic?
Or are they calm and serene
and wrapped in chocolate silk?

Do you feel my touch as I attempt
to soothe your frowning brow?
Or my arms wrapped around you
as you dance in your slumber?

I guess I’ll never know,
but that won’t stop me wondering.
I kiss your cheek, leaving
my questions branded on your face.

Eyes closed, I feel for direction,
not wanting the sensation
of you to end.

Velvet strokes turn to silk
in the receptacles
of my brain.

Seconds tick past the fine hair
covering my body
as you pass

Lingering love slips past my ear
Your breath slow,
encompassing.

As the night draws to a close
Our love lingers on.
Embracing.
